First Aid/Health and Safety

The school takes very seriously its duty of ensuring that all staff and students work in a safe environment, and expect all members of the school community to recognise their role in supporting this.

De Stafford School has a detailed Health and Safety Policy with a committee of the governing body dedicated to monitoring and evaluating its implementation.

The school has five fully trained First Aiders who will respond to any medical emergency or injury that occurs within the school. These people are not trained paramedics and will assist within the scope of their knowledge and training.

It is the duty of parents to notify the school of any medical conditions that may affect their child during the school day. The school is willing to look after medication for students but cannot be responsible for ensuring medication is taken, or for its administration, unless specific training has been provided.

If the school is asked to hold medication it will be kept in Student Services which is staffed between 8.30am and 3.30pm.
